Welcome to Urban Chicken Ventures. To get ready for the chickens we will be building the chicken coop this weekend and getting everything in our house ready for them when they are little chicks. Part of what we will be doing is training our chickens to go on walks. We live in Minneapolis so we can go on walks a little ways into the city. But it will be 6-8 weeks until they go into their coop and we start to train them. To get them ready for human interactions, we will be picking them up when they are baby chicks.
We are going to get 6 chicks but one of them we are giving to our friend. These are the types of chickens we are getting Buff orpington (That will be mine I am going to name it Hilary Fluff Nugget), a salmon faverolle (My little sisters chicken and she is naming it chicken panzee also to add to that she will be doing some of the blog post), A Easter egger (One of my moms is going to get that one she does not know the name yet), Cream legbar (My other mom is going to get that one and she does not know the name yet), and our last one is a Lavender Orpington ( My older sister Is getting that one she also does not know the name yet). But they all have ideas for what they might name it. Also my name is Keira and my little sister that is helping is named Aria. I am so excited to get the chickens and start the amazing journey with all of you guys!!!
